Leadership Buckhead is a principle-based leadership program, focused on helping growth-oriented members of the Atlanta community become stronger, more authentic leaders. The program consists of nine monthly sessions, including two, two-day retreats and seven full or half-day classes, and spans from October through June. Each session fits within a framework structured around the concept of the natural ability and distinctive spirit that makes each leader unique. The sessions follow this progression:
Know Your Genius: Building self awareness while giving voice to your personal values and exploring the ethical context of leadership.
Grow Your Genius: Embracing creativity, creating change and learning to lead a balanced life by focusing on what matters.
Share Your Genius: Managing a network of relationships, mentoring and intentionally building a legacy to leave behind.
In addition to each monthly session, there also are opportunities to meet with class participants between programs to collaborate on homework activities or simply socialize. Graduates of the program are required to return the following year (Year Two) and work with other members of their graduating class to facilitate one of the nine sessions and serve as mentors to the next class.
Class themes for the 2012- 2013 year are as follows:
- Self Awareness
- Values & Ethics
- Creativity & Innovation
- Creating Change
- Life in Balance
- Influential Relationships
- Vision & Stewardship
While many of our participants are drawn from those who work or live in Buckhead, we also actively recruit from the diverse communities throughout metropolitan Atlanta. The class is chosen in a competitive and in-depth selection process based on leadership experience, community involvement and essay responses.
- The Leadership Buckhead Program, founded in 1990, focuses on helping high-potential members of the Atlanta community become stronger, more authentic leaders.
- While many leadership programs are issues-based to engage participants in specific community challenges and opportunities, our program is character and principle-based.
- Known as “Leadership Buckhead”, the program has been affiliated with the Buckhead Business Association (BBA) since its inception and was historically named the BBA Leadership Development Program.
